The Grafflab Rules

All people that wish to paint at The Grafflab must first, read all rules and understand them. Any person that is found painting outside the permitted Grafflab area will be asked to leave the program, and will no longer be able o participate in any of The Grafflab’s programs or activities. They will also be sited for vandalism by the L.A.P.D.

All people that enter The Grafflab must sign in the Grafflab’s sign in sheet. By signing The Grafflab sign in sheet you agree to follow all rules listed below.

1. In order to participate you must show I.D, be 18 years of age. The Grafflab is open only on weekends. It is closed on Holidays.
2. This property is closed to the public. No entry without permission under L.A.M.C Sec. 41.24 PC 602L .Anybody found painting or marking property anytime beside Grafflab’s hours will be charged and prosecuted.
3. All aluminum and metal fencings are for bombs.
4. All walls are for pieces only.
5. Large wall along entrance is only for large crew productions only. Must submit all sketch to Grafflab staff for pre-approval.
6. Garage walls for individual theme piece. Must submit sketch for pre-approval.
7. Last pieces done on Sundays will run next week.
8. Grafflab’s first art session begins Sat-Sun between 8:00 last session begins at 3:30 pm. Hours open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Sat and Sun only.
9. Grafflab is an Alchohol and Drug free zone.
10. All Corporate logos are to be approved first by Graff lab staff. Any Corp. logos found without concession will be buffed.
11. All minors that wish to paint must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian.
12. Pornography, drug, gang , hate, violence and any other obscure Graff is prohibited and will be buffed.
13. Must respect all Grafflab participants and art.

Artist Agreements

• Must help promote a clean environment for all Grafflab guests. Please use recycle bins, trash cans and pick up after yourself.
• Grafflab is not responsible for any personal items left behind ask Grafflab staff about lost and found.
• No painting of any kind on patterned floor, basketball court or any structure with any shade of green paint.
• Any art work left unfinished will be painted over, unless you received permission by a Grafflab staff member.
• All art on Grafflab becomes Grafflab property Immediately. Grafflab reserves the right to use such art in any form way
• All photos taken of Grafflab art is to be used for personal archives only.

We greatly appreciate all donations contributed to The Grafflab. Be assured that all contributions will go to keeping a clean and safe environment for all Grafflab’s guests. Proceeds will go to maintaining a sanitary porter potty, restrooms, trash can availability, and staff. Also will help fund night lights for safety purpose’s .It will also help us to advance our Canvas Art Gallery. Also provide a safe environment for skateboard riders. That is why your contributions are greatly appreciated. We accept all kinds of contributions that will help further our mission.

L.A.’s new heartbeat: The Graff Lab

Often times people associate the artistic culture of Los Angeles with
places like The Getty, Norton Simon, or L.A.C.M.A. however, in 2010,
artistic expression has continued to expand beyond Museum doors and into
the highly populated urban streets of L.A. While “tagging” is still
prevalent within the city (on freeways, bus benches, office buildings,
billboards, etc.), Graffiti murals seem to be emerging as “high-art” with
contemporary issues surrounding politics, music, pop culture, and more.
Ricky Guerrero recognized this artistic revolution by opening the doors of
the Graff Lab three years ago in 2006-07. The new Graffiti “Museum”
showcases the talent of Graffiti Artists from around the world; their
skills shown on all types of surfaces from the walkways and step landings,
to the walls and even the Porto-potties seem to merge seamlessly within the
spray-painted landscape!

On Saturday, March 20, 2010, Jerk music group the Breakfast Club shot
their debut video for their single “Bite Me.” The groups energetic and
“swagger-filled” lyrics combined with the “Lab’s” edgy yet colorful scenery
made for the perfect video shoot. Hundreds of fashion forward youngsters
showed in support of the artistic union. An awesome Saturday for the
creative community altogether! Hollywood location scouts also recognize the
“Lab” as a prime property for shooting television and film segments. L.A.
artist Rudy Martinez, recent mural, a memorial in honor of music legend
Michael Jackson will also bring in much buzz for the venue. It’s completion
scheduled for later this month. The Graffiti Lab is the new heart beat of
L.A. GO experience it for YOURSELF!
